Friday Five 9/11/15

Friday Five 9/11/15

Promise it’s back to my regularly scheduled posts! My schedule and daily to-dos went haywire after attending Mysore Fashion Week on Friday and Saturday. Yes, you heard that right, the small town of Mysore in India has a fashion week! Since I’m miles away from NYFW (I don’t think there’s anything worse than getting invites to shows and events you cannot attend), it was only natural that I had to find a replacement. I’ll have a blog posted about my experiences and the designers sometime this weekend…stay tuned!

I launched my portfolio!

So excited that my portfolio is finally up and running. I’ve been trying to figure out what I want to do as a career  for quite some time now (the quintessential millennial struggle), and freelance opportunities for web design and social media management kept coming my way. I put two & two together, and voila Christabel Lobo Designs is a thing! If you’re struggling with SEO or need a well designed WordPress site, hollah at me sayhello @ christabel.co.

I love whenever Justin Timberlake is on Jimmy Fallon. History of Rap is the greatest thing they’ve come up with. Also, #friendshipgoals.

In The Age of Photoshop, Most Designers Still Prefer Brainstorming on Paper

friday five

So true. No matter how many apps I use to organize and design, I always, always come back to the good ol pencil & paper to brainstorm. There’s just something about not being connected to a device and letting the idea flow from brain to hand to paper that can’t be beat…yet!

“Regardless of whether or not you’re a designer, when it comes time to brainstorm solutions for anything, most people think of pencil and paper as their first resort.”

9 Date Ideas for Foodies

Even though my love life right now is non-existent, this list is a winner. Plus, I can do all of that on my own, or with my bff…wait, she’s back in MD right now. All on my own, then! I’m not really sure where ‘home’ is at this point in my life, but boy, can I relate to this:

“I was, however, terribly and unequivocally homesick for the food. I cried over thoughts of my mother’s hippie enchiladas; dreamed of steaming bowls of pho from the home-style Vietnamese restaurant down the street.”

In Prague, Riding the Wave of a Cocktail Revolution

If you know me, you know how much I prefer a glass of vino or a gin & ginger (trust me, it’s the best, you will not regret it) as opposed to beer. My friend and I are planning our Europe sojourn in November, and I’m not sure just how much beer I can consume…I’m that person that orders a cocktail at an alehouse. Whatevs, I like what I like. $7 for a cocktail?! You bet I’ll be hitting up some of the bars mentioned in the article.

If you’ve been to Prague and love cocktails, I’m all ears for your favorite haunts. And, whatever else you fancy!

Happy Friday!
