SO, WHERE TO EAT IN NYC?
There are so many places to eat in NYC – I don’t believe I have ever been in a situation where I’m craving a particular cuisine and can’t find a restaurant that serves it! Honestly, there’s something for everyone.
Here are just a few of my favorite restaurants in NYC!
Jing Fong Dim Sum
This restaurant is huge, but serves up delicious dim sum rolled out on carts. A popular option for groups on the weekends, get there early and with an appetite!
Jing Fong Restaurant (Chinatown)
Address: 20 Elizabeth St, New York, NY 10013
Heidi’s House
Heidi’s House, a beer & wine bar, is a neighborhood gem. They serve up seasonal, locally sourced dishes, and the one above was their current special: boneless Cornish hen stuffed with spinach, and a side of asparagus. It was just as delicious as it looked. Oh, and don’t forget to order their mac & cheese, you will not be disappointed!
Heidi’s House (Upper East Side)
Address: 308 E 78th St #3, New York, NY 10075
Abaleh
I stumbled into Abaleh one day after work, and was pleasantly surprised with their menu. A good, no-frills spot in the neighborhood if you’re looking for falafel or mediterranean food, in general.
Abaleh (Upper East Side)
Address: 1611 2nd Ave, New York, NY 10028
Pinto’s Thai Bistro
If you’re looking for authentic Thai food, then this is not the place to check out. But, that’s not a bad thing, because trying to find truly authentic Thai food is next to impossible (if you know of any, I’m all ears!). Pinto’s serves up some creative spins on classic Thai dishes, at affordable prices.
Pinto NYC (West Village)
Address: 118 Christopher St, New York, NY 10014
Uptown Local
Great brunch spot, everything, including the beer, we tried was tasty. I love that you can make your own beer flights from any beers on the menu – great tasting option. Now that it’s warming up, due for another visit, so I can sit out back in the biergarten.
Uptown Local (Upper East Side)
Address: 1606 1st Avenue, New York, NY 10028
Superiority Burger
Last year, their burger was named The Best Burger of the Year. The kicker? The burger itself is all vegan! Of course, I had to taste test it for myself, and can honestly say that it’s worth the hype. Christabel will love it!
Superiority Burger (East Village)
Address: 430 E 9th St, New York, NY 10009
Jacob’s Pickles
SO worth the weekend brunch wait! Everyone that knows me, knows how obsessed I am with a good Bloody Mary, and theirs was truly exceptional! It’s been a while since I’ve brunched there, but you can’t go wrong with Southern comfort food. Mmmhmmm.
Jacob’s Pickles (Upper West Side)
Address: 509 Amsterdam Ave, New York, NY 10024
Melt Bakery
Work sometimes spoils us, and the other day was no different. Ice cream sandwiches from Melt Bakery…I tried Morticia (pictured above), which is made from Crackly Chocolate Cookies + Malted Chocolate Rum Ice Cream. All I can say is yum.
Melt Bakery (Lower East Side)
Address: 132 Orchard St, New York, NY 10002
Paris Baguette
Another situation of delectable desserts at work, this chocolate cake was just what I needed to get through the day. Paris Baguette has locations all throughout the city, but I love popping in for a pastry after dinner if I’m headed to see a Broadway show.
Paris Baguette (Times Square)
Address: 567 7th Ave, New York, NY 10036
Ippudo
Hands down, has to be some of the best ramen I’ve tried so far in the city! A lot of people agree, so be prepared for a long wait, but in the end, when you get to sip some of that delicious broth, it makes it all worth it. Definitely one of my top places to eat in NYC.
Ippudo (East Village)
Address: 65 4th Ave, New York, NY 10003
And, there you have it, my list of favorite places to eat in NYC…thus far. I’m always looking to explore the city, and open to restaurant suggestions. If there’s a spot you absolutely love, leave me a comment, letting me know!
Shaine was born and raised in Fort Myers, Florida. After completing his MBA, he spent over a year in Washington D.C. working in corporate finance. He now calls NYC his home, where you’ll find him eating his way through the city, or running through Central Park (to burn off all those calories!).

We’ll be there in September so will definitely check out some of these joints. Thanks for the tips – especially that ramen place; I miss Japan so much and this will at least get me a “taste” of it.
Glad we could help – I will actually be visiting Shaine in NYC in September…we should meet for coffee, or better yet, ramen!
